A Bit About Me

I've been a teacher for six years and am severely addicted to coffee.  I love reading, painting, and playing my bass guitar.  I also enjoy playing volleyball and basketball, and have coached both sports at the middle school level.  On the weekends, you'll find me whipping up a latte on my home espresso maker, watching an episode of Law & Order, or taking a drive to a scenic place to practice my photography.  I love to travel and have spent past summers visiting Alaska, China, Egypt, and Jordan.

Teaching Experience

I graduated from Humboldt State University with dual teaching credentials in multiple subjects and mathematics in 2006 and went straight into the classroom teaching 6th grade math and science at South Valley Middle School in Gilroy, California.  I taught that curriculum for four years and then spent a year teaching 8th grade algebra and algebra readiness.  I moved to Chowchilla, California in the summer of 2011, after getting engaged that June, to be closer to my fiancee as we planned our wedding.  We were married on New Year's Eve 2011 and moved once more this past summer to Dixon, California where I was hired to teacher math and science at Dixon Montessori Charter school.

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that education is all about equipping my students for life--that my job as a teacher is to inspire students to develop their skills, talents, and passions to become more productive members of their communities.  It's my hope that all of my students will leave my classroom more responsible, better problem solvers, and more comfortable with mathematics as a problem-solving tool.
